Caregiver stress

Dr. Khaled Kadry

Individuals with autism spectrum conditions have a heterogeneous set of skills and disadvantages. Irregular patterns of Skill Development are common, therefore predictions about the progress of a particular child are inaccurate. Distortions in social communication seem to be a particular source of distress for families and this can have a significant impact on family life and an individual's overall outcomes.
This lecture aims to highlight some of the considerations related to children newly diagnosed with autism spectrum conditions and the impact this has on parents and caregivers. The talk will also provide a practical guide for professionals and caregivers on how to recognize stress, define a framework for managing this and promote self-care to care for individuals with autism spectrum conditions.
