Teaching children with autism to tolerate waiting comes under self-regulation skills. Families and caregivers are often challenged by children's problem behavior when they are asked to wait for preferred items.This is an important skill for children with autism to learn during early intervention because it is important to his everyday functioning. Child is waiting for food, waiting to get favorite toy, waiting on the bus...ect.

In order to start learning to tolerate denied access, he must first master the ability to tolerate to wait.
